Course Objectives and Modules
Welcome to Future Scientists, an inspiring and hands-on science programme designed for inquisitive students aged 13-16. At Headington School, we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of scientists by making science both accessible and exciting. This course allows you to explore a variety of scientific disciplines, from biology and chemistry to physics and environmental science. Whether you’re a budding biologist or a future physicist, Future Scientists will ignite your curiosity and help you discover the wonders of the scientific world.
Module 1: Understanding the Natural World
In this module, you’ll delve into the fascinating world of biology and ecology. You’ll learn about the structures and functions of living organisms, and ecosystems, and how different species interact with their environment. Through hands-on experiments and outdoor activities, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of life on Earth and understand the importance of conservation and sustainability.
Module 2: Exploring the World of Chemistry
In this module, you’ll delve into the fascinating world of biology and ecology. You’ll learn about the structures and functions of living organisms, ecosystems, and how different species interact with their environment. Through hands-on experiments and outdoor activities, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of life on Earth and understand the importance of conservation and sustainability.
Module 3: Investigating Physical Science

Embark on excursions designed to ignite adventure and curiosity. Showcasing the best of UK culture that will broaden their horizons and create lasting memories including; Thorpe Park, London and Oxford.

Students will immerse themselves in exciting multi-activities, including football, basketball, tennis, arts and crafts, and specialist activities like off-site bowling, talent shows, capture the flag and secret cinema, exploring their passions and building lasting friendships.

How challenging is the course?
The course input will challenge students at B1 level, however within language teaching it is commonplace for teachers to work with mixed ability classes. Depending on the group’s competency with English and ability to absorb new material, our teachers can adapt to make the lessons inclusive for all.
What level of English is required to take part in this course?
For this course, a level of B1 and above is recommended to help ensure that students make the most of the programme.
Do students receive a certificate?
Yes. Each student who completes this programme receives a Certificate of Achievement during a celebration at the end of the course.
Do students need to purchase any course books?
Students aren’t required to purchase any textbooks for the course, instead a variety of SBC handouts are purposefully made, all of which were created by our own academic team.
What do students need to take to class?
Students should bring their own stationery, but they are provided with notebooks and folders.
