Everyone has the potential to lead, and in our Future Global Leaders course, we help nurture what it is about each of our students that will make them great leaders. In Future Global Leaders, we examine leadership case studies throughout history and learn how individuals can improve their leadership skills.

Welcome to Future Global Leaders, a dynamic programme designed for students aged 13-16 who are passionate about making a difference in the world. At Headington School, we recognise the importance of developing leadership skills and global awareness in today’s interconnected society. This course provides a foundation in international relations, leadership, and social impact, preparing you to become a thoughtful and effective leader on the global stage. Course Objectives
Over the course of this two-week programme, you will:
- Analyse the traits and tactics of renowned leaders to shape your own leadership identity
- Participate in practical activities to understand the dynamics of leadership in action
- Develop communication skills, enhancing your public speaking and persuasion abilities
- Collaborate on a group project, honing your teamwork and project management skills
- Construct and deliver presentations, boosting your self-confidence and ability to influence others
Course Modules
Module 1: Introduction to Global Issues and International Relations
In this module, you’ll explore the key global issues that shape our world today, such as climate change, human rights, and international conflict. You’ll learn about the role of international organisations and the importance of diplomacy in addressing these challenges. Through discussions, case studies, and debates, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of global affairs and begin to think critically about how you can contribute to positive change.
Module 2: Leadership Skills and Decision Making
This module focuses on developing the essential skills needed to be an effective leader. You’ll learn about different leadership styles, the importance of ethical decision-making, and how to inspire and motivate others. Practical exercises and group activities will help you build confidence in your leadership abilities, while real-world scenarios will challenge you to think ethically and strategically.
Module 3: Social Impact and Community Building
In the final module, you’ll explore how leaders can make a positive impact on their communities and the world. You’ll learn about social entrepreneurship, the importance of civic engagement, and how to design and implement projects that address social and environmental challenges. By working on a community-based project, you’ll gain hands-on experience in creating change and learn how to lead initiatives that make a real difference.

Our Approach to Your Learning
At Headington School, our approach to learning in the Future Global Leaders programme is designed to inspire you to think globally and act locally. We combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, helping you develop the skills and understanding needed to lead in a rapidly changing world. Our lessons are interactive and collaborative, encouraging you to engage with global issues, work in teams, and develop your own leadership style. With the guidance of our experienced teachers, you’ll build the confidence and competence to take on leadership roles in your school, community, and beyond, preparing you to be a responsible and impactful global citizen.

15 hours of subject-specific academic content per week with an experienced subject tutor, delivered through interactive and hands-on lessons

Opportunities to apply and share this knowledge through dynamic ‘Time To Shine’ group projects, culminating in an end-of-the-week ceremony in which you can present your innovative ideas to your peers

Develop English Language Skills
Expand your horizons this summer by choosing one of our curated elective modules each week and take a deeper dive into unique areas of interest including public speaking, coding, environmental sustainability, or leadership

Headington students will be fully immersed in an action-packed range of engaging social activities. Previous activities include Oxford walking tours and punting

During a two-week course, students will go on three exciting excursions to famous UK cities and popular tourist destinations

Is Future Global Leaders a challenging programme?
Students will be challenged throughout the programme. However, the teacher can modify the course to make the programme even more accessible so that every student feels included in the class. At SBC we do all we can to ensure that all feel inspired and actively engaged in Future Global Leaders.
What level of English is required to join the class?
A minimum level of B1 is advised in order to take part effectively in this programme.
Before the summer, your Admissions Manager will send your child(ren) an online placement test to complete. This will help us to ensure that this course is suitable for your child to participate in and benefit from.
Do students get a certificate?
Our graduation ceremony, where each student receives a certificate of completion to celebrate their efforts, is held the day before students return home.
Do students need a course book?
Our teachers provide students with their materials during each lesson.
What do students need to bring to class?
Despite not needing to bring notebooks or folders to class, students are encouraged to bring their own stationery.
Is any preparation required before the lessons start?
Although there is no pre-course reading for this course, it would be useful for students to consider some of the themes of the course beforehand such as their favourite leaders past or present.
