Business at Oxford College
Oxford College | Ages 15 - 17
We have developed our Business & Leadership course for the young business people of the future. Students will develop both their communication skills and business skills, and acquire knowledge of the latest business practices. Subjects in Business & Leadership include: budgeting and finance, marketing, sustainability and growth, as well as the development of the communication skills necessary for success in business. As part of our Time to Shine project, students will develop a business plan for a new start-up company and deliver a product pitch to a panel of judges.
To succeed in the field of business, it is essential to develop key skills in business interactions and transactions, such as negotiating strategies, interpersonal communication, teamwork, and presentation skills. To reflect this, students will participate in an assignment in which they develop the concept and business plan for a new start-up company. This project will culminate in students giving a sales pitch presentation about their start-up company and product to a panel of judges, who will offer valuable feedback and guidance to the students.

Every business must be aware of where it sits in its market. In order to do so, they must know about their competitors, and where their competitors’ strengths and weaknesses lie. This module explores how business analyse the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of both their own enterprise and those of their competitors.
Modules are given for example purposes and are subject to change.
