Life At The Institute of Education Campus

The Institute of Education is Ireland’s best known and most successful private school. The school’s iconic campus is situated in the heart of historical Georgian Dublin occupying seven large buildings on Leeson Street in Dublin City Centre.

Behind the original Georgian facade sits a state-of-the-art 4-storey extension flooded with natural light. The building includes modern teaching spaces alongside large, bright study halls which provide a distraction-free learning environment.

The school’s proximity to Dublin provides student’s with a wealth of cultural, learning and social activities all concentrated within a small area with the campus right beside the beautiful St Stephen’s Green and RCSI and Trinity College a short walk away. Excellence is in the DNA of the the school and this extends in to the summer programme.

Social Programme

Our social programme is designed with an independent student experience at it’s heart. Led by a dynamic and imaginative team of College Mentors students at the Institute of Education will have the opportunity to explore Dublin through a comprehensive excursion programme, showcasing the best of Irish culture and heritage. Included in the course is a guided city tour, an action packed Saturday to explore the city’s highlights as well as a full day excursion outside of Dublin on Sunday.

In addition, students will take part in a daily social programme, including sports, crafts, and social events to bring together the student community. To encourage students to develop their growing independence they are provided with free time (with parental consent) in small groups in which to explore their new surroundings.

Our Academic Approach

At SBC, we go beyond the curriculum, believing in learning by doing. Our students are actively encouraged and challenged to utilise new skills in an environment which is nurturing and supportive.

By combining university style lectures with practical project work, students have the chance to engage with theoretical principles as well as developing the soft skills required outside the classroom. We put theory into practice by facilitating new opportunities to inherit key skills such as critical thinking, leadership, communication, and teamwork – mirroring what is practised every day in a professional work setting.

Dive deeper into your field beyond the classroom

Enhance your academic foundation with our comprehensive Industry Experience sessions. These sessions are both on-site, in which you will participate in workshops that are led by an industry professional and blend practical engagement with immersive learning, and off-site, in which students engage in excursions that complement your course content, broadening your understanding of the real-world applications of your chosen subject.

Accommodation

At the Institute of Education, students live in purpose built accommodation in an inspiring city centre location just a short walk from attractions including the River Liffey and Thomas street. All students stay in ensuite rooms, with communal common spaces where everyone can relax together. SBC staff are on-hand to support 24/7. The accommodation is a short bus ride from the school with SBC provided transport available every morning and evening to facilitate the journey to summer school.
